Drew Minard, originally from West Des Moines, Iowa, started his dance training at three. Throughout his childhood, Drew trained as a classical and competitive dancer, garnering many awards and accolades, including the prestigious Hope Award at the international finals of the Youth American Grand Prix in New York City at age twelve. Drew trained at many different dance studios until finding that he also had a passion for musical theatre, motivating him to begin vocal and acting lessons. Soon after, Drew toured the country as Billy Elliot in the Tony award winning musical, Billy Elliot. (Broadwayworld Best Actor In A Musical). Directly after closing the production in Brazil, Drew moved to New York City to begin his education at the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan. Throughout high school, Drew performed in, choreographed, and directed various productions in, and out of, school. Various productions include, West Side Story (Riff), Peregrine Theatre Ensemble's Chicago (Asst. Director), How To Succeed… (Mr. Bratt), A Chorus Line (Mike), The Barrow Group's The Beautiful Dark (Charlie), The Exonerated (Kerry), and many more. Drew has also had the opportunity to perform in various film projects such as Oh Land’s Cherry On Top, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and Alicia Walter’s Standing at Your Doorstep. Drew can also be seen in Martha Stewart and Bal Harbour Magazines modeling for designer Rita Vineris.
After high school, Drew attended the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati for one year before departing to work on the developmental lab for The Music Man on Broadway. Drew made his Broadway debut in the show on February 10th, 2022 and stayed with the show throughout its entire run which concluded on January 15th, 2023 and was nominated for six Tony Awards.
Drew recently starred in Gotta Dance off-broadway at The York Theatre and Stage 42, where he played Riff, Tulsa, amongst many others. The company was honored with a Chita Rivera Award. The show closed on June 7th, 2026.
Catcher, Drew’s solo ballet, based on the classic book, The Catcher In The Rye, recently premiered at Peregrine Theatre Ensemble, co-directed by Drew and his longtime mentor, Kyle Pleasant.
Drew is also active in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality in New York City. For over two years, he has worked with Research Foundation To Cure AIDS, helping coordinate fundraising and stem cell research, as well as various literary and creative endeavors to spread awareness and find a cure for AIDS. He is currently pursuing his B.A at Columbia University.
